People assume that because we are a doctor’s office our skin
care products and treatments are costly and unobtainable. This is a
misconception. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have healthy skin. You
just have to be smart about how you spend your money. Today we are going to go
over some tips for healthy smart skin care.
In today’s market there are many facilities that offer
procedures like microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and lasers. These are all
great procedures to have and well worth the money you will spend for them. They
will help soften, brighten, and tighten your skin. Even the most superficial of
treatments like a microderm aide in resurfacing the skin. But it is important
to know that this is only half the work. To get the best bang for your buck you
need to have a strong home care regimen. Having a good home care regimen will
give these procedures longevity. They will protect and maintain what you are
trying to accomplish through these processes.
There are so many products on the market today. It is
confusing to know in what direction to go. If you don’t have a degree in
chemistry, the list of chemicals on the label can be a mystery. I have had clients
bring me bags full of products they have purchased at stores asking me to help them figure out which one is best for what. You can really
spend a lot on money on products that don’t have high enough levels of active
ingredients in them to make a difference. A lot of these products cost just as
much with fewer visible results.
Here is the difference. Any products sold at NWACPS are
considered pharmaceutical strength. This means they are regulated by the FDA.
They have to meet certain requirements. The levels of active ingredients are
higher. They are highly concentrated and very results driven. Yes, the start-up
cost for a new regimen might be a little more on the front end but these
products will typically last longer. Because of the active ingredients found in
the products, a little goes a long way. You are purchasing a comprehensive line
designed to work together to obtain your skin health goals.
So, lets talk about a simple regimen.
There are 3 product
types that I consider the foundation of any regimen, no matter what my client’s
age or skin type.
1. Antioxidants- to help prevent damage. Antioxidants are a
group of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. They help prevent cell damage caused
by free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for premature aging by damaging
cells and breaking down collagen and other proteins within the skin.
2. Retinols- to correct damage and
revive the overall health of your skin. Retinol
products help speed up the cell metabolism so they are rejuvenating at a higher
rate. During this process collagen rebuilds, the appearance of fine lines,
wrinkles, and dark spots diminish. Additionally, a retinol will also help minimize
the appearance of pores and even help the texture of breakout prone skin.
3. Sunscreens- to help protect. It is
important to use a broad spectrum sunscreen of 30spf, daily. We have many to
choose from that are cosmetically elegant and go well under your make up.
This is the foundation of a good at home
regimen. This is how we start to LIVE BEAUTIFULLY AT ANY AGE.
