You often hear people tell you to ask your doctor, "Are you board certified?" Why is this important? The board certification process varies by specialty, but for Plastic Surgery, it is a very rigorous process. It can take years after residency training to complete.

You don't want to know only IF your doctor is board certified, but WHAT board has certified him/her. This is important because the ONLY board that adequately certifies Plastic Surgeons is the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
